Priced per practitioner
The price steps up in bands as you add practitioners. The more you grow, the more you pay, every year.
Billed in US dollars
UK clinics are charged in USD, so the pound amount moves with the exchange rate, and card FX fees can ride along.
SMS costs extra
Reminders are pre-paid at about 10 cents (roughly 8p) a message. A busy clinic can add £100+ a month before noticing.
Flat £39 alternative
MyNewClinic is £39 a month for the whole clinic, any number of practitioners, 500 SMS included. The gap widens each time you hire.
How Cliniko's price works
Cliniko charges by the number of practitioners, in bands, and it bills UK clinics in US dollars. As published in 2026, that's roughly $45 a month for one practitioner, $95 for two to five, and $145 for six to eight, with larger bands above that. At about $1 to £0.75, that's around £34, £71 and £109 a month. Every feature is included on every plan, which is genuinely good; the cost is purely about headcount.
The bits that aren't on the sticker
- US-dollar billing: the pound amount changes with the exchange rate, and your card may add a foreign-transaction fee each month.
- SMS reminders: pre-paid credits at about 10 cents (roughly 8p) a message. A clinic sending 2,000 reminders a month can spend £100 to £130 on SMS alone.
- The band cliff: adding one practitioner that tips you into the next band lifts the whole bill, not just that person's share.
Worked example: what you'd actually pay
One practitioner: Cliniko is about £34 a month plus SMS. MyNewClinic is £39 flat with 500 SMS included. At solo scale it's close, and honestly Cliniko's base can be a pound or two cheaper before SMS. The flat price isn't about winning here.
Three practitioners: Cliniko sits in the two-to-five band at about £71 a month plus SMS. MyNewClinic is still £39. That's roughly £32 a month, about £384 a year, before SMS.
Six practitioners: Cliniko is about £109 a month plus SMS. MyNewClinic is still £39. That's roughly £70 a month, about £840 a year, before SMS. The bigger you get, the wider it gets.
Switching off Cliniko is the easy part
Because Cliniko has an open API, moving off it is unusually painless. Paste one API key and your patients, appointments, notes and balances come across, usually in under an hour, with Cliniko left untouched until you're happy. You can test the import first and run both side by side.
Questions, answered
Is Cliniko bad value?+
No. For a single practitioner it's competitive, and it's a reliable, well-liked system. The point is narrower: its bill is priced per practitioner and charged in dollars, so it grows every time you hire and moves with the exchange rate. A flat £39 doesn't.
Are these numbers exact?+
They're as published in 2026 and deliberately conservative. Always check Cliniko's current pricing page, because plans and exchange rates move. We'd rather understate a rival's price than overstate it.
What about SMS?+
Cliniko charges per message (about 8p). MyNewClinic includes 500 SMS a month per clinic in the £39, with no per-message fee.
How hard is it to move?+
For Cliniko, easy. One API key brings your history across in about an hour, and we'll do it with you. Cliniko is left read-only and untouched until you decide.
